The Analysis of the Impact of the Air on Flotation

As for the ore beneficiation, there are three kinds of ways that are widely used: flotation operation, magnetic method, reselection method and so on. Among these mineral processing operations, the flotation operation is the most complex and difficult to operate, but it is the common choice of the users. The flotation machine, on one hand, inhales adequate air to mix with the pulp; on the one hand, stirs the pulp to mix with the reagents at the same time to refine the foam and make the minerals adhere to the foam, forming the mineralized foam on the slurry surface. The next step is to control the gate height and control the liquid level to make the useful foam be scraped off.
Because the air also contains the oxygen, nitrogen, and inert gases in addition to the carbon dioxide gas and water vapor. When the minerals are exposed on the surface and water hydration occurs, which can be manifested as hydrophilic. When the gas is adsorbed to the mineral surfaces, the hydration can be weakened, resulting in initial hydrophobic on the surface. The role of air and mineral surface is optional. The oxygen has larger impact on the mineral surface. The role of oxygen is favorable to the initial hydrophobicity of the sulfide ore. However, if the reaction time is too long, it will make the mineral surface become the hydrophilicity.
The usage of the flotation machine is a great complement for the flotation beneficiation process. The emergence of the flotation machine has solved many inadequacies of the traditional practices. In the production, the impact of the air on the flotation effect is determined by the actual production.
